The Beans (collective term for what used to be the ducklings) are here to stay. Holme Lacy College didn’t need any more drakes so we now have 2 separate duck colonies of 1 drake + 2 ducks each.

The pond keeps filling up the bottom layer then emptying. We haven’t got the liner in yet but at least we know it was worth buying one. Caroline next door had a ‘moat’ dug round a tree and it’s full of water (without a liner). Luckily we have a good 3 feet of top soil, [...]

Last Monday 4th of June one of the ducklings sprouted the dreaded curly tail feather. This means that Bean (with the white chest marking) is a drake and so can never share a pen with Sanjeev. The result of too much beer in The Tram Inn and borrowing Elwyn’s digger. Mike & I were rubbish with the digger but luckily Derek came round and took over from us and hey presto! A pond in the making.
