Pond!!

A year on and it is eventually nearing completion.
As I type this it is 30 degrees C in the cattery. But, Mike has had a whole year in which to pick which day to finish digging the pond! We hope to get the liner in this evening and then wait for the thunderstorms to fill [...]
Garden (again)

The veg garden this year has been a little disappointing but things are starting to brighten up a bit now. The beans will perhaps produce a meal or two but no more. We have eaten lots of pak choi and the celeriac is looking good. We unearthed 2 grow-bag potato plants the other day and [...]
Moles

Our next door neighbour said ‘thanks for all the moles’ this morning. I put in a couple of solar mole repellers which really seem to do the job. They only cover a certain area and a mole has appeared at the very edge of the pak choi bed this morning so I’ve ordered another couple, [...]
Green Grass

We’re getting some grass back in the old duck runs now. The top one will be used again in winter when they will relocate to a new posh duck house Roger the Hairdresser has promised to build for us.
I have extended the shrubbery at the back to meet up with the ‘bonfire’ bed. The pond [...]

Ah well, I never promised to update our blog daily, weekly or even monthly!!! Thanks to Corrine I have been reminded that it’s a little bit out of date, so here we go.
The pond is still a large whole in the ground.
The veg garden still has some leeks, celeriac and a lonely perennial broccoli. It [...]
Parsnip

This photo is especially for my Mother.
I dug up some carrots and a large parsnip this morning. By the time I went to get them off the garden table half the carrots had disappeared and Spike and Boogie were looking very happy. I must remember how much they love raw carrots as a treat next [...]
Who can resist a sunflower?

If I was a bit more efficient with the weeding this wouldn’t be in the middle of the path in the veg garden!
Veg glorious Veg

We have beans, courgettes, carrots, tomatoes and much more a-plenty. It’s a lovely start to the day to feed 40+ cats then let the ducks out, collect the eggs and then go foraging in the veg patch.
We even have a sunflower that seems to have planted itself in one of the pathways. I’m hoping we [...]
Carrots

I weeded most of the veg patch last weekend and ‘thinned’ out some carrots so we had tiny 1 inch carrots with dinner, lovely.
The pak choi has all finished/gone to seed but we should soon be eating lots of courgettes, squashes and beans.
The pond, however, is still a large hole in the garden………………………….
